Meet Dr. Purvi Zavery
Dr. Purvi Zavery is a pediatric dentist who loves helping children have healthy smiles. She always knew she wanted to work with kids, even when she was a dental student. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. There, she was given a special award for her skills in Pediatric Dentistry: the Drs. Charles, Charles Jr., and Joe Sweet Award for Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry.
After dental school, Dr. Purvi completed three more years of special training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). During her residency, she also earned a master’s degree in oral and craniofacial sciences. This means she studied how the mouth, teeth, and face grow and develop. While at UCSF, she worked closely with the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Oakland. There, she gained important experience in treating dental emergencies and caring for children with special healthcare needs.
Dr. Purvi has been caring for children’s teeth for more than 10 years. For several years, she worked in a pediatric dental office in San Jose. Later, she opened her own practice—Peninsula Children’s Dentistry in San Carlos—so she could work closer to home and help kids in her own community.
Dr. Purvi keeps learning every year to stay up to date with new dental tools and techniques. She is especially interested in learning more about child behavior management, which helps her make children feel safe and comfortable during their dental visits. She believes in building strong, friendly relationships with each child and family. Her goal is to help kids build healthy habits that last a lifetime.
She also supports the pediatric dental community. Dr. Purvi helped start the UCSF Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Association and now serves as its treasurer. The group brings together other pediatric dentists trained at UCSF to share ideas and improve care for children.

Currently, Dr. Purvi lives in the Peninsula with her husband and two daughters. Dr. Purvi has lived in the Bay Area for over 20 years and now calls it home. Before coming to California, she lived and worked as a dentist in Mumbai, India. She loves the Bay Area’s beautiful weather and friendly community.
When she’s not taking care of little smiles, Dr. Purvi enjoys reading, traveling, watching movies, and playing sports. She recently started playing volleyball on weekends and is excited to keep learning.
